DR050 - Resolve Invalid Tape Location]
This DR provides customer resolution steps for T086 on page 287.
Problem: While performing an inventory, the library determined that a tape cartridge is located in an invalid
location. In any library that is 23U or taller, the two top slots in storage columns 4 and 5 cannot be accessed
by the robot and therefore cannot be used for tape cartridge storage. It is likely that this tape was placed
into the slot manually by a user. The library will not place tape cartridges into these slots based on host or
user commands.
1 Determine the barcode label of the tape cartridge from the ticket details.
2 Open the library main access door(s) and remove this tape cartridge. As you face the library, columns
4 and 5 are on the right side of the library. The very top slots of these columns cannot be used for tape
cartridges.
3 Close the main access door(s) and resume operations.
4 You have three options:
a. Select Close to close the ticket now.
b. Select Exit to leave the ticket open for future troubleshooting.
c. Select Back to return to the Diagnostic Resolution.
DR051 - Resolve Library SN Label Detection
This DR provides customer resolution steps for T087 on page 288.
Problem: The library cannot read one of the module serial number labels, but has already validated that the
barcode scanning system is working properly.
There are two likely scenarios:
The line of sight from the scanner to the module serial number barcode label is blocked by foreign
material, such as a media barcode label.
The module serial number barcode label is damaged, and the barcode scanner cannot read it
reliably.
1 Open the main library doors and look for any obstructions in front of the module serial number barcode
labels.
2 If no obvious foreign material is found, the module serial number is damaged, and the EM or CM will
need to be replaced. The library is still operational, but correction should be scheduled as soon as
possible.
3 Contact Service for possible CM or EM replacement.
4 You have three options:
a. Select Close to close the ticket now.
b. Select Exit to leave the ticket open for future troubleshooting.
c. Select Back to return to the Diagnostic Resolution.
DR052 - Resolve Library Service Tag Detection
This DR provides customer resolution steps for T088 on page 289.
Problem: The library cannot read the module service tag, but has already validated that the barcode
scanning system is working properly.
