426 Troubleshooting the Tape Library
Problem: The library has been configured to detect unlabeled tape cartridges, and at least one unlabeled
tape cartridge or unreadable barcode label was found. Note, though, that tape cartridges in tape drives, and
in the top and bottom library slots, may have readable barcode labels that may be temporarily unreadable
in these locations.
1 Display the current library configuration by selecting Reports > Library Configuration.
2 Make a note of all locations showing “No_Label” as the tape cartridge barcode label information.
3 If a tape cartridge location is noted for a drive, or for a top or bottom library slot, perform a tape cartridge
move operation to a library storage slot not located in the top or bottom row. The tape cartridge barcode
label will be rescanned at the new location. If the tape cartridge barcode label is still not readable at the
new location, continue with step 4.
4 Do one of the following:
• Perform an export operation of all noted tape cartridge locations, and inspect and correct affixed
barcode labels, OR
• Alternately, remove such noted cartridges from the library by opening a main library door and
manually removing the identified tape cartridges for barcode label inspection and correction.

RR020 – Remove and Replace Duplicate Tape Cartridge
This RR provides resolution steps for T194 on page 365.
Problem: The library detected a duplicate barcode label. A duplicate tape cartridge may be intentional, but
it may lead to confusion for operator-requested export and import operations or tape recovery operations.
1 Note the tape cartridge locations and barcode label information.
2 Determine whether one of the duplicate tape cartridges should be removed or relabeled, then perform
one of the following corrections:
• Consider replacing the tape cartridge with a different tape cartridge.
• Consider relabeling one of the duplicate tape cartridges with a different, unique barcode label.
3 Perform an export operation of one of the duplicate tape cartridges, and replace or relabel it accordingly
