(a) Make a selection of a crimp tool from .Table 5/Terminal Lug Crimp Tools.
(b) Make a selection of a power unit from Table 6/Crimp Tool Head Operational Pressure.
NOTE: Make sure that the power unit is set for the operational pressure that is applicable
for the crimp tool head.
WARNING
DO NOT SET THE POWER UNIT PRESSURE MORE THAN THE
MAXIMUM PRESSURE PERMITTED FOR THE CRIMP TOOL HEAD.
INJURY TO PERSONNEL CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION
DO NOT SET THE POWER UNIT PRESSURE MORE THAN THE
MAXIMUM PRESSURE PERMITTED DAMAGE TO THE CRIMP TOOL
HEAD CAN OCCUR.
(c) Make a selection of a release agent from Table 1/Terminal Lug Assembly Materials.
(d) Prepare the crimp tool for operation. Refer to Step 2.(8).
(e) Examine the crimp tool dies. Make sure that:
1) The smooth metal surfaces do not have damage.
2) A quantity of the release agent or plating from a crimp operation is not collected on the
surface of the nest and indenter dies.
NOTE: The incorrect formation of the symmetrical pap can occur if the indenter dies are not
clean.
(f) If the nest or indenter dies have a quantity of the release agent or plating from a crimp
operation:
1) Make a selection of a solvent from Error! Reference source not found.
2) Brush the dies with a soft bristle brush.
3) Wipe the dies clean with a wiper and solvent.
(g) Apply a small amount of release agent on the die set.
(h) Put the end of the wire in the crimp barrel of the terminal lug. Make sure that all of the
strands of the conductor are in the crimp barrel.
