Installation and Getting Started
Thank you for purchasing a BPswitch FX Video Production System, soon you will be
experiencing how we have redefined the video production switcher.
Take note of which model and/or option you have purchased and refer to that section in
this manual prior to using your Broadcast Pix Switcher.
There are a total of 8 FX Switcher models, as shown below, all of which use the same BP
Switcher software, each with unique hardware to control the software.
All diagrams and photos assume new systems shipped after January 2016.
BPswitch FX Configurations
There are 4 FX4 configurations:
FX4 Desktop
FX4 500
FX4 1000
FX4 2000
There are 4 FX6 configurations:
FX6 Desktop
FX6 500
FX6 1000
FX6 2000
All FX4 models have 3 SDI/HDMI inputs, 1 SDI/HDMI or Analog input and 6
Analog/HDMI/SDI outputs.
All FX6 models 5 SDI inputs, 1 Analog/HDMI inputs and 6 Analog/HDMI/SDI outputs.
Optional Tally Box
There are 2 tally box options for BPswitch Systems to provide a contact
closure/relay connection. The tally boxes are stand-alone: Sense & Switch 8 and a
Measurement Computing USB-ERB24 that plug into the Server via a USB
connection. Up to 11 external tally/GPIO boxes may be connected along with the
built in tally/GPO on the BPswitch Switcher for a maximum 96 GPIs and 288
GPOs.
The Sense & Switch 8 provides 8 relays for tally output to your camera control
units and 8 isolated inputs for General Purpose Inputs contact points for triggering
Macros. All 6 external sources plugged into the BPswitch Input boards can be
tallied, in addition to the two Network Inputs, as shown by the diagram below. If
external General Purpose Outputs (GPOs) are needed, a second tally box is
required.
Input 1 on the BPswitch card corresponds to ‘0’ on Tally Box
Input 2 on the BPswitch card corresponds to ‘1’ on Tally Box
Input 3 on the BPswitch card corresponds to ‘2’ on Tally Box
