To automatically remove the colored background
and get the keyer adjusted roughly 90% simply
select the [Auto] PixButton, as shown on the right.
For most keying scenarios the auto settings may be
good enough, however for more complex lighting
scenarios more advanced settings are available.
Please see the next section for adjusting the
ClearKey settings.
ClearKey Settings
There are a number of ClearKey settings that may be adjusted to give you greater
control of your chromakey. It is important to note that the smallest adjustment can
cause a key to look good or bad. When creating a chromakey it is all about
creating a
wedge of color on the color wheel to generate a matte. ClearKey has these
available controls.
Hue (Hue): Position around color wheel of the wedge, the actual color of the
chromakey background. Green = 120, Blue = 240. Range is 0 to 360 in degrees.
Tolerance (Tol): Size of the wedge on the color wheel. Similar to an acceptance
angle, the wider the angle the more colors are accepted as transparent. This
setting should be used only to slightly increase the colors being keyed out, more
as a fine adjustment. Range is 0 to 100.
Brightness (Brit): Is the amount of the background image being keyed out.
Range is -255 to 255.
Contrast (Cont): Is the amount of the foreground image that will be preserved.
Range is 0 to 250.
Spill (Spil): Removes/suppresses any unwanted spill from the background that
may be cast onto your foreground where the matte is not totally opaque or
transparent. The more spill that is removed the more of the natural hues on the
foreground may be removed, resulting in a pink/purple mask over your image.
Range is 0 to 250.
Keep Yellow & Cyan (Mode 1): Works with the amount of spill suppression
removed, but preserves both the yellow and cyan hues in the opaque areas of the
image. If keying on blue, it will preserve both magenta and cyan hues.
Keep None (Mode 2): Works with the amount of spill suppression removed, but
both yellow and cyan hues in the opaque areas will be removed from the image. If
keying on blue, both magenta and cyan hues will be removed.
Keep Yellow (Mode 3): Works with the amount of spill suppression removed, but
preserves yellow hues in the opaque areas of the image. If keying on blue, it will
