9.2.1.7 Connection
Procedure: connecting an optiset E terminal
Step Activity
1. Locate a free interface on the MDFU/MDFU-E / internal distribution frame for connecting the
terminal.
(Hicom 150 E OfficePro: Assignment of the splitting/jumper strips.)
2. Connect the cable from the MDFU/MDFU-E / internal distribution frame to the wall outlet.
The maximum feeding range for a stand-alone or master telephone without an additional
plug-type AC adapter is 500 m (with a diameter of0.4 mm). Ranges of up to 1,000 m can be
achieved with the use of a plug-type AC adapter.
3. Key labelling: cut out the label sheets provided with the unit (in the accessory pack) or the labels
generated with the Hicom Assistant E and insert them underneath the plastic cover.
4. Prepare the terminal for connection:
Connect the handset cord to the terminal (marked by the symbol) and to the handset.
Is a port provided for an optiset E key module?
Is a port provided for one or more optiset E adapters (see Table 9-7 for possible
configurations)?
5. Connect the line cord (marked by a symbol on the device).
Terminals in the optiset E series are shipped with a line cord (6 m) and an RJ11 connector for
connection to a MW jack.
The first time the terminal is powered on,
all LEDs are activated briefly,
all LEDs on any add-on devices (AODs) that may be connected are activated briefly (AOD
LEDs do not have to flash synchronously with the LEDs on the terminal),
all pixels on the display are activated briefly.
These procedures indicate that the equipment is being started up and the self-test procedures have
concluded. Downloading has finished and the device is ready for operation when you see the date and
time displayed on the screen.
The technician is not responsible for any customized key programming that may be desired.
Because the telephone is simple and easy to use, customers can program their own keys.
