5.2.5 Conducting customer-specific system programming
You can conduct system programming by means of one of the following tools
Hicom Assistant T (programming telephone), Section A.3 or
Hicom Assistant E (PC tool).
Changes to the system (e.g. key programming) made using Hicom Assistant E during
an offline programming session will be lost when the database is loaded.
Refer to Chapter 7 for information on how to program individual features.
5.2.6 Quick check
Checking terminals
You should check the display function (display of time and date) on each terminal. If a display
does not appear, either the terminal or the link is defective. Replace the terminal or check the
link.
You should also carry out the telephone test described in Section 13.3.3 at regular intervals.
Functional testing
You should set up internal and external calls to random destinations.
5.2.7 Station and line number assignment
The station and line numbers are assigned on a consecutive basis when the system is started up.
This assignment of continuous numbers is based on the following rules:
The capacity configuration of the system is determined when the system is first initialised. This
is then stored in the customer database. The system reads this data each time it is reset, thus
ensuring that a continuous numbering plan is generated.
The system responds as follows if it detects a change to the board configuration:
- Missing or faulty board > no response.
- Other board type > board is not activated.
- Same board type, but reduced number of channels > board activated with reduced number of
ports. Gap remains.
