5.1.3.1 Station number assignment
The capacity configuration of the system is determined when the system is first initialised. This is
then stored in the CDB. The system reads this data each time it is reset, thus ensuring that a
continuous numbering plan is generated (i.e. no gaps).
The system responds as follows if it detects a change to the board configuration during start-up:
If Then
Missing or faulty board No response
Other boards type Board is not activated
Under-equipped board variant Board is activated with a reduced number of ports. A gap remains in
the database.
Over-equipped board variant Board is activated with the number of ports stored in the database.
The additional ports are not activated.
New board at empty slot
Board was inserted last in accordance with the component
placement sequence:
all boards are activated and the numbering plan is updated
without gaps.
Board was inserted before an appropriate board in accordance
with the component placement sequence:
board is activated and is appended to the last board in the
numbering plan.
Procedure: reinitialisation
Proceed as follows if measures to expand the system configuration require reinitialisation of the
numbering plan:
Step Activity Description
1. Enter reinitialisation password The system configuration data stored in the CDB is
deleted. The system thus reverts to the status which existed
before initial cutover.
2. Disconnect the system from the
power supply. Check that the
system is de-energised. Expand as
required.
