BCM5755 AND BCM5755M MACS
The BCM5755/BCM5755M are seventh-generation 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet LAN controller solutions for high-
performance network applications. The devices combine a triple-speed IEEE 802.3-compliant MAC with a triple-speed
Ethernet transceiver, a x1 PCIe bus interface, and on-chip buffer memory in a single device. Following are important features
of BCM5755 and BCM5755M devices.
• 10BT/100BTX/1000BT full-duplex and half-duplex MAC
• 10BT/100BTX/1000BT Ethernet PHY transceiver
• PCIe v1.1, x1 link width interface
• PCIe CLKREQ# support
• High-speed on-chip RISC processor
• IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tag support
• IEEE 802.1p layer 2 priority encoding
• WOL support meeting ACPI requirements
• Hardware TCP segmentation support
• IEEE 802.3x flow control
• Integrated 48-KB Rx packet buffer memory and 8-KB Tx packet buffer memory
• Programmable receive rule checker for class-of-service and packet filtering
• RSS support for load balancing and increased performance of Rx (receive) traffic in multiprocessor systems
• IPv6 support:
- IPv6 packet parsing
- TCP over IPv6 segmentation
- TCP and UDP over IPv6 checksum calculation
- TCP and UDP over IPv6 checksum verification
• SMBus interface supporting ASF 2.0
• Integrated Trusted Platform Module (TPM) security engine compliant with the Trusted Computing Group’s main
specification, version 1.2 and low pin count interface support.
• Optimized device power management features
• Failover and teaming capabilities
• Serial EEPROM and serial Flash support
• JTAG support
• 1.2V CMOS with 5V-tolerant PCI I/Os
The BCM5755M Ethernet controller supports more advanced power management features than the BCM5755 and is
targeted for mobile LOM applications.
