The BCM5754/BCM5754M/BCM5787/BCM5787M are seventh-generation 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet LAN controller
solutions for high-performance network applications. The devices combine a triple-speed IEEE 802.3-compliant MAC with
a triple-speed Ethernet transceiver, a x1 PCIe bus interface, and on-chip buffer memory in a single device. Following are
important features of BCM5754, BCM5754M, BCM5787 and BCM5787M devices.
• 10BT/100BTX/1000BT full-duplex and half-duplex MAC
• 10BT/100BTX/1000BT Ethernet PHY transceiver
• PCIe v1.1, x1 link width interface
• PCIe CLKREQ# support
• High-speed on-chip RISC processor
• IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tag support
• IEEE 802.1p layer 2 priority encoding
• WOL support meeting ACPI requirements
• Hardware TCP segmentation support
• IEEE 802.3x flow control
• Integrated 48-KB Rx packet buffer memory and 8-KB Tx packet buffer memory
• Programmable receive rule checker for class of service and packet filtering
• IPv6 support:
- IPv6 packet parsing
- TCP over IPv6 segmentation
- TCP and UDP over IPv6 checksum calculation (Tx only)
• SMBus interface supporting ASF 2.0
• Self-boot feature to support small size NVRAM devices. Booting from on-chip ROM code with only boot configuration
parameters stored in external NVRAM.
• Optimized device power management features
• Failover and teaming capabilities
• Serial EEPROM and serial Flash support
• JTAG support
The BCM5754M Ethernet controller supports more advanced power management features when compared to the
BCM5754, and is targeted for mobile LOM applications.
The BCM5787 is a low-cost 196-pin FPBGA version of the BCM5754 device, and does not support the Flash auto-config
feature and some of the advanced power management features.
The BCM5787M Ethernet controller supports more advanced power management features than the BCM5787 and is
targeted for mobile LOM applications.
