CONDITION POSSIBLE CAUSES CORRECTION
HEADLAMPS FLASH
RANDOMLY
1. Poor lighting circuit Z1-ground. 1. Test for voltage drop across Z1-ground
locations, refer to Group 8W, Wiring
Diagrams.
2. High resistance in headlamp
circuit.
2. Test amperage draw of headlamp
circuit.
3. Faulty headlamps switch circuit
breaker.
3. Replace headlamp switch.
4. Loose or corroded terminals or
splices in circuit.
4. Inspect and repair all connectors and
splices, refer to Group 8W, Wiring
Diagrams.
5. Loose relay 5. Inspect and reset headlamp and parking
lamp relays.
6. Faulty Body Control Module 6. Replace Body Control Module
HEADLAMPS DO NOT
ILLUMINATE
1. No voltage to headlamps. 1. Repair open headlamp circuit, refer to
Group 8W, Wiring Diagrams.
2. No Z1-ground at headlamps. 2. Repair circuit ground, refer to Group
8W, Wiring Diagrams.
3. Faulty headlamp switch. 3. Replace headlamp switch.
4. Faulty dimmer switch. 4. Replace headlamp switch.
5. Broken connection between BCM
and headlamp/parking lamp relay.
5. Check Junction Block. continuity.
Service as necessary.
6. Faulty parking lamp/headlamp
relay.
6. Replace relay.
7. Faulty Body Control Module 7. Replace Body Control Module
HEADLAMPS ILLUMINATE
CONTINUOUSLY WITH
IGNITION ON
1. Check headlamp switch circuit G52
for continuity. If no continuity.
1. Repair circuit.
2. Check headlamp switch return
circuit L80 for continuity. If no
continuity. (BCM will automatically do
this if no continuity is detected.)
2. Repair circuit.
3. Check circuit L43 left side and L44
right side for a short to battery
between the headlamp switch and the
headlamp relay.
3. Repair circuit.
4. Stuck relay. 4. Replace relay.
5. Faulty Body Control Module 5. Replace Body Control Module
INSTRUMENT PANEL
LAMPS DO NOT DIM OR
ILLUMINATE
1. No voltage to dimmer switch. 1. Check fuse. If good repair open
headlamp circuit, refer to Group 8W,
Wiring Diagrams.
2. No Z1-ground at headlamps. 2. Repair circuit ground, refer to Group
8W, Wiring Diagrams.
3. Faulty dimmer switch. 3. Replace dimmer switch.
