5.17.2.13 X Axis tab
The "X Axis" tab allows you to define the x axis scaling of the active diagram. The scal-
ing logic is the same as for all other diagram types, see Chapter 5.4, "Scale softtool",
on page 425.
Access: System – [Applic] > "TDR" > "X Axis"
This tab is only visible if the Extended time domain analysis option R&S ZNA-K20
is available.
If the active trace is represented as an eye diagram, the "X Axis Settings" are
grayed out, as shown above.
If the active trace is represented as a rise time or skew diagram, the "X Axis Set-
tings" allow you to adjust the center/span or start/stop, no matter if the X axis rep-
resents "Time" or "Distance" (see " Time / Distance" on page 535).
5.17.3 Distance to Fault application
With option K2, the R&S ZNA can locate faults and discontinuities on cables and trans-
mission lines. The measured S
ii
-parameter trace is mathematically converted to the
time domain, and represented in the distance domain. The x-axis of the DtF trace
(derived from S
ii
) shows the distance from the calibrated reference plane; faults appear
as peaks above a certain level.
If option R&S ZNA-K2 is not installed on the R&S ZNA, the "Distance to Fault" applica-
tion is not available.
To achieve the best distance resolution, set the sweep span as large as possible and
use the Auto Number of Points to adjust the number of sweep points.
