 1: Feed rate
 2: Air cut
 3: Beginning of machining
 4: Feed-rate calculation during machining
 5: Feed rate calculated by AFC
 6: Feed rate programmed in the NC program

 8: Workpiece
Operating states

The two main operating states of adaptive feed control are Learning and
Controlling and Monitoring.
