8.8 ping
This command sends (pings) an ICMP echo request messages to a remote destination to
check connectivity. Pings have an IP and ICMP header, followed by a struct timeval and then
an arbitrary number of "pad" bytes used to fill out the packet. Ping works with both IPv4 and
IPv6.
Syntax
ping {<IPv4 Address>|ipv6 <IPv6 Address>|<Hostname>} [ethernet
mpid] [source data {interface|source-address|vrf}] [repeat <Echo
Requests>] [size <Payload Size>] [summarized]
Command Description
<IPv4 Address> Configures the IPv4 IP address in dotted-decimal notation
(X.X.X.X) or as a hostname.
