Usage
IfdynamicegressisenabledforaparticularVLAN,whenaportreceivesaframetaggedwiththat
VLAN’sID,theswitchwilladdthereceivingporttothatVLAN’s egresslist.Dynamicegressis
disabledontheEnterasysB5bydefault.
Forexample,assumeyouhave20AppleTalkuserson
yournetworkwhoaremobileusers(thatis,
usedifferentportseveryday),butyouwanttokeeptheAppleTalktrafficisolatedinitsown
VLAN.YoucancreateanAppleTalkVLANwithaVLANID of55withaclassificationrulethatall
AppleTalktrafficgetstaggedwithVLANID
55.Then,youenabledynamicegressforVLAN55.
Now,whenanAppleTalkuserplugsintoportge.3.5andsendsanAppleTalkpacket,theswitch
willtagthepackettoVLAN55andalsoaddportge.3.5toVLAN55’segresslist,whichallowsthe
AppleTalkusertoreceiveAppleTalk
traffic.
