Downloading a Firmware Image
YoucanupgradetheoperationalfirmwareintheEnterasysB5switchwithoutphysicallyopening
theswitchorbeinginthesamelocation.Therearetwowaystodownloadfirmwaretotheswitch:
•ViaTFTPdownload.ThisprocedureusesaTFTPserverconnectedtothenetworkand
downloadsthefirmwareusing the
TFTPprotocol.FordetailsonhowtoperformaTFTP
downloadusingthecopycommand,referto“copy”onpage3‐44.Forinformationonsetting
TFTPtimeoutandretryparameters,referto“settftptimeout”onpage3‐46and“settftp
retry”onpage3‐

•Viatheserial(console)port.Thisprocedureisanout‐of‐bandoperationthatcopiesthe
firmwarethroughtheserialporttotheswitch.Itshouldbeusedincaseswhenyoucannot
connecttheswitchtoperformthein‐bandcopydownl oadprocedureviaTFTP.Serialconsole
downloadhas
beensuccessfullytestedwiththefollowingapplications:

rate Setstheconsolebaudrate.Validvaluesare:1200,2400,4800,9600,19200,38400,
