Configuration Persistence Mode
Thedefaultstateofconfigurationpersistencemodeis“auto,”whichmeansthatwhenCLI
configurationcommandsareentered,orwhenaconfigurationfilestoredontheswitchis
executed,theconfigurationissavedtoNVRAMautomaticallyatthefollowingintervals:
•Onastand‐aloneunit,theconfigurationischeckedeverytwo
minutesandsavediftherehas
beenachange.
•Onastack,theconfigurationissavedacrossthestackevery30minutesiftherehasbeena
change.
IfyouwanttosavearunningconfigurationtoNVRAMmoreoftenthantheautoma ticintervals,
executethesaveconfigcommandandwaitfor
thesystemprompttoreturn.Aftertheprompt
returns,theconfigurationwillbepersistent.
Youcanchangethepersistencemodefrom“auto”to“manual”withthesetsnmppersistmod e
command.Ifthepersistencemodeissetto“manual,”configurationcommandswillnotbe
automaticallywrittentoNVRAM.Althoughtheconfigurat ioncommands
willactivelymodifythe
runningconfiguration,theywillnotpersistacrossaresetunlessthesaveconfigcommandhas
beenexecuted.
Purpose
TosetandviewthepersistencemodeforCLIconfigurationcommands,manuallysavethe
runningconfiguration,view,manage,andexecuteconfigurationfilesandimagefiles,andsetand
viewTFTPparameters.
