Configuring MAC Authentication
Purpose
Toreview,disable,enableandconfigureMACauthentication.Thisauthenticationmethodallows
thedevicetoauthenticatesourceMA Caddressesinanexchangewithanauthenticationserver.
Theauthenticator(switch)sel ectsasourceMACseenonaMACauthenticationenabledportand
submitsittoabackendclientforauthentication.Thebackend
clientusestheMACaddressstored
password,ifrequired,ascredentialsforanauthenticationattempt.Ifaccepted,astring
representinganaccesspolicymaybereturned.Ifpresent,theswitchappliestheassociatedpolicy
rules.
YoucanspecifyamasktoapplytoMACaddresseswhenauthenticatingusersthroughaRADIUS
server(seesetmacauthenticationsignificantbits onpage 2029).Themostcommonuseof
significantbitmasksisforauthenticationofallMACaddressesforaspecificvendor.
