24.5 Example of configurations and processing times
24.5.1 Configuration of curves
Table 167 gives the modulus values used by PKA for ECC domain calculations:
p is the prime number used as the modulus for all point arithmetic
plen is the length of p in bits
n is the (usually prime) order of the group generated by G, the base point of the curve.
This variable is also known as q, see RFC 5639
nlen is the length of n in bits
a and b are the coefficients of the equation y

curve. For NIST curves a is always equal to -3

Those modulus are given for the curves considered secure according to the latest security
recommendations:
curves with name nist are published by NIST in Federal Information Processing
Standards Publication FIPS PUB 186-4,
curves with name brainpool are published by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) in
the Request for Comments RFC 5639.
