C.7.1 ATA 100
The M1535D+ I/O subsystem provides two channels of IDE within the IDE
controller to support up to a maximum of four devices. Each channel can operate at
DMA mode 5 independently. The standard configuration is an UltraDMA/100-
capable hard drive on the primary channel and a optical media drive on the
secondary channel. Key features of the IDE controllers are:
■ Supports PCI bus mastering at 200 MB/sec transfer rate.
■ Two separate IDE channels that support UltraDMA/100 high performance ATA
bus for 100 MB transfer rate and concurrent operation.
■ Dedicated ATA bus pins and buffers for each channel
Note – The hard drives of the Sun Blade 1500 workstation share the same IDE
controller channel. Therefore, internal drive mirroring is not supported.
C.7.2 Smart Card Reader
The M1535D+ provides a System Management Bus (SMBus) host controller. The
controller provides a communication channel for I

C devices using the SMBus
protocol. In the Sun Blade 1500 workstation, the smart card reader is the only device
on the SMBus.
The smart card reader is ISO7816-compliant and supports Payflex and Cyberflex
smart cards.
TABLE C-10 lists the functions of the smart card reader LED.
Note – The LED indicates the condition of the smart card itself, not the reader.
