(a) Set the BAT switch on the P5-13 panel to the ON position.
(b) Make sure the STANDBY POWER switch on the P5-5 panel is in the AUTO position.
(c) Set the DC meter selector switch on the P5-13 panel to the BAT position.
(d) Make sure the DC meter on the P5-13 panel shows this value:
1) DC VOLTS = 22-28

(2) Remove the safety tag and close this circuit breaker:

(3) To make sure batteries are charged, do this task: Supply External Power,
TASK 24-22-00-860-813.

(4) Do these steps to do a test of the charge mode:
(a) As the battery charges, look for an indication of more than 26 amps on the dc ammeter.
NOTE: A dead battery can charge for 60 minutes.
(b) When the battery is fully charged, make sure that the battery charger goes into the pulse
mode.
1) The dc ammeter indication will decrease to 0 amps.
2) Then, the dc ammeter indication will increase to 13 - 36 amps.
3) These pulses will occur 8 times, approximately 10 seconds apart.
NOTE: The time between the battery charger pulses can vary due to the state of
battery charge.
(c) After the pulses stop, make sure that the battery charger goes into the
transformer-rectifier mode.
1) The dc voltmeter indication will stay constant at 28 ± 2 volts.
2) The dc ammeter indication will stay constant at approximately 0 amps.

(5) Remove the safety tag and close this circuit breaker:
