ThisexampleshowshowtocreateaVRRPsessionontheVLAN1interfacewithaVRIDof1:
C2(su)->router(Config)#router vrrp
C2(su)->router(Config-router)#create vlan 1 1

UsethiscommandtoconfigureavirtualrouterIPaddress.Thenoformofthiscommandclears
theVRRPaddressconfiguration.
Syntax
address vlan vlan-id vrid ip-address owner
no address vlan vlan-id vrid ip-address owner

vlanvlan‐id Specifiesthenum beroftheVLANonwhichtocreateaVRRP session.This
VLANmustbeconfiguredforIProutingasdescribedin“Pre‐Routing
ConfigurationTasks”onpage15‐1.
vrid SpecifiesauniqueVirtualRouterID(VRID)toassociatewiththerouting
interface.
vlanvlan‐id Specifiesthenum beroftheVLANonwhichtoconfigureavirtualrouter
address.ThisVLANmustbeconfiguredforIProutingasdescribedin“Pre‐
RoutingConfigurationTasks”onpage15‐1.
vrid SpecifiesauniqueVirtualRouterID(VRID)associatedwiththerouting
interface.
ip‐address Specifies
thevirtualrouterIPaddresstoassociatewiththerouter.
owner SpecifiesavaluetoindicateiftherouterownstheIPaddressasoneofits
interfaces.Validvaluesare:
• 1toindicatetherouterownstheaddress.
• 0toindicatetherouterdoesnotowntheaddress.
