• P
osion the calibraon object close to the posion of the anatomy under invesgaon.
• Choose a calibraon object of intermediate size (a few cenmeters) for opmal accuracy.
For LVA/RVA, the use of catheter calibraon is not recommended. Relave errors from calibraon
are mulplied by a factor of up to three when compung (ventricle) volumes.
For manual catheter calibraon, follow these guidelines:
• Use a radiopaque catheter.
• Use a lled catheter to improve detecon.
• Use catheters for calibraon that are at least 6 French. Catheters below 4 French are not supported.
• Ensure that the external catheter size as provided by the manufacturer is accurate.
Ensure that the image quality is good and that the contrast between the calibrang object and the
background is good.
Automac Calibraon
2D-QA can calculate the calibraon factor automacally if the required informaon is available in the
image series.
1 Click the Calibraon task.
The Auto calibraon method is automacally selected if the required informaon is available in the
image series.
2 To accept the calibraon factor, click Accept and Connue.
Manual Calibraon
You can perform manual calibraon using one of the following methods:
• Catheter
• Distance
• Sphere
Catheter Calibraon
You perform catheter calibraon by tracing the centerline of a catheter in the image.
You can perform catheter calibraon on either a straight catheter segment or a curved segment, but
you should always use a non-tapered segment. Using a tapered segment for calibraon will result in
incorrect measurement results.
1 Use the navigaon toolbar to review the series and select an image to be used for calibraon.
NOTE You can change the c
alibraon image at any me by clicking Change in the control panel
and selecng a dierent image.
2 Click the Calibraon task.
3 Click Catheter in the Select calibraon method list.
4 Click Draw in the control panel and do the following:
• Click on the centerline of the catheter at the desired start point.
• Click again to place a point further along the centerline.
• Connue placing points along the centerline, and then double-click at the desired end point.
For addional informaon, click Help in the control panel.
