osion the calibraon object close to the posion of the anatomy under invesgaon.
Choose a calibraon object of intermediate size (a few cenmeters) for opmal accuracy.
For LVA/RVA, the use of catheter calibraon is not recommended. Relave errors from calibraon
are mulplied by a factor of up to three when compung (ventricle) volumes.
For manual catheter calibraon, follow these guidelines:
Use a radiopaque catheter.
Use a lled catheter to improve detecon.
Use catheters for calibraon that are at least 6 French. Catheters below 4 French are not supported.
Ensure that the external catheter size as provided by the manufacturer is accurate.
Ensure that the image quality is good and that the contrast between the calibrang object and the
background is good.
Automac Calibraon
2D-QA can calculate the calibraon factor automacally if the required informaon is available in the
image series.
1 Click the Calibraon task.
The Auto calibraon method is automacally selected if the required informaon is available in the
image series.
2 To accept the calibraon factor, click Accept and Connue.
Manual Calibraon
You can perform manual calibraon using one of the following methods:

Catheter Calibraon
You perform catheter calibraon by tracing the centerline of a catheter in the image.
You can perform catheter calibraon on either a straight catheter segment or a curved segment, but
you should always use a non-tapered segment. Using a tapered segment for calibraon will result in
incorrect measurement results.
1 Use the navigaon toolbar to review the series and select an image to be used for calibraon.
NOTE You can change the c
alibraon image at any me by clicking Change in the control panel
and selecng a dierent image.
2 Click the Calibraon task.
3 Click Catheter in the Select calibraon method list.
4 Click Draw in the control panel and do the following:
Click on the centerline of the catheter at the desired start point.
Click again to place a point further along the centerline.
Connue placing points along the centerline, and then double-click at the desired end point.
For addional informaon, click Help in the control panel.
