15.2 Malware Pr
otecon
This equipment incorporates protecon mechanisms against the intrusion of malware.
Without proper cyber security maintenance, the eecveness of these provisions may degrade over
me, since malware is connuously altered to target newly discovered vulnerabilies.
Philips Medical Systems systemacally analyzes sources of informaon related to cyber security
vulnerabilies to assess the cyber security risk to its systems. To ensure the proper funconing of the
system, Philips Medical Systems may recommend specic customer or service acons, or issue service
recommendaons to update, alter, or replace system protecon mechanisms as described in this
document.
The latest informaon, including the Product Security Policy Statement and recommended customer
acons, can be found at:
www.philips.com/productsecurity
NOTE You should regularly check the system's published cyber security status at the link above.
Despite prevenve measures already implemented, a remote possibility remains that the system may
become infected with malware. When malware is detected, or when you noce that unfamiliar
behavior or degraded performance occurs repeatedly, including aer being switched o and on again,
you should call technical support for an inspecon. When the inspecon conrms the infecon, be sure
to take measures to contain and remove the source of infecon. Technical support will reinstall the
system soware to bring the system back into specicaon. Technical support can also assist in
accessing the system's event log, which may provide informaon useful for the invesgaon.
A whitelist approach to malware protecon is applied. When whitelist protecon soware is installed,
any untrusted soware not menoned on the whitelist is blocked.
15.2.1 Security Patches
Security patches alter the system design and require proper validaon and approval by Philips Medical
Systems.
The systemac analysis of cyber security vulnerabilies includes an assessment of the applicability and
need to apply security patches, taking into account migang circumstances in the intended use and
design of this system.

15.2.2 Whitelist Protecon
Whitelist protecon soware is installed on this system. The whitelist idenes all trusted soware,
which is allowed to execute on the equipment. The protecon soware prohibits the execuon of
untrusted soware, eecvely blocking malware before damage is done. Instead of relying on frequent
updates, like for an-virus soware, it oers pro-acve protecon against a wide spectrum of malware
and malware alteraons.
Since only known trusted soware is allowed to run, no regular updates are required.
