15.2 Malware Pr
otecon
This equipment incorporates protecon mechanisms against the intrusion of malware.
Without proper cyber security maintenance, the eecveness of these provisions may degrade over
me, since malware is connuously altered to target newly discovered vulnerabilies.
Philips Medical Systems systemacally analyzes sources of informaon related to cyber security
vulnerabilies to assess the cyber security risk to its systems. To ensure the proper funconing of the
system, Philips Medical Systems may recommend specic customer or service acons, or issue service
recommendaons to update, alter, or replace system protecon mechanisms as described in this
document.
The latest informaon, including the Product Security Policy Statement and recommended customer
acons, can be found at:

NOTE You should regularly check the system's published cyber security status at the link above.
Despite prevenve measures already implemented, a remote possibility remains that the system may
become infected with malware. When malware is detected, or when you noce that unfamiliar
behavior or degraded performance occurs repeatedly, including aer being switched o and on again,
you should call technical support for an inspecon. When the inspecon conrms the infecon, be sure
to take measures to contain and remove the source of infecon. Technical support will reinstall the
system soware to bring the system back into specicaon. Technical support can also assist in
accessing the system's event log, which may provide informaon useful for the invesgaon.
A whitelist approach to malware protecon is applied. When whitelist protecon soware is installed,
any untrusted soware not menoned on the whitelist is blocked.
15.2.1 Security Patches
Security patches alter the system design and require proper validaon and approval by Philips Medical
Systems.
The systemac analysis of cyber security vulnerabilies includes an assessment of the applicability and
need to apply security patches, taking into account migang circumstances in the intended use and
design of this system.

15.2.2 Whitelist Protecon
Whitelist protecon soware is installed on this system. The whitelist idenes all trusted soware,
which is allowed to execute on the equipment. The protecon soware prohibits the execuon of
untrusted soware, eecvely blocking malware before damage is done. Instead of relying on frequent
updates, like for an-virus soware, it oers pro-acve protecon against a wide spectrum of malware
and malware alteraons.
Since only known trusted soware is allowed to run, no regular updates are required.
