4.5.3.1 Trigger the Baseband Sources with a Common Signal
The R&S SMW supports you to trigger all basebands simultaneous and couples auto-
matically the trigger settings in all available basebands (see "Receiving and Providing
Trigger Signals" on page 244).
In test setups that require the signal of two or more baseband signals but that do not
use the advantages of the coupled trigger settings, you can trigger the baseband
generators from a common trigger source. A common trigger source can be an exter-
nal trigger source or the internal trigger signal of one baseband that is distributed to the
other basebands.
Use one of the following possibilities:
"To use the external global trigger signal of the instrument" on page 262
"To use the internal trigger signal of the instrument" on page 262
"To use the external local trigger signal of the instrument" on page 263
To use the external global trigger signal of the instrument
An external global trigger/clock signal can be supplied to one or simultaneously to all
the basebands.
To trigger commonly all basebands and to assure a synchronous generation start with
the global trigger/clock signal, proceed as follows:
Enable the same trigger source in each of the basebands.
For example, select "Trigger In > Source > External Global Trigger 1".
The instrument spreads the provided external trigger signal to all basebands.
To use the internal trigger signal of the instrument
Internal trigger signals are generated by the instrument self and can be used independ-
ently per baseband or routed from one to the other.
