Changes in hostname syntax
From FW version 3.20.200.xxx and later, the computer name syntax is changed. For
comparison, the following explanation shows the previous syntax in parentheses.
Note, that a "Factory Preset" resets the computer name. Depending on the installed
firmware version, the computer name of your instrument can change compared to the
past.
Each instrument is delivered with an assigned computer name, that remains perma-
nent as long as it is not explicitly changed.
The default computer name follows the syntax <INST>-<Serial Number> (previous
syntax: rs<inst><Serial Number>), where:

<INST> is the short name of your instrument, as stated on the front panel.
●
<Serial Number> is the individual serial number of the instrument.
You can find the serial number at the rear panel of instrument. It is the third part of
the device ID printed on the barcode sticker .
Example:
The default hostname of an R&S SMW with a serial number 102030 is
SMW200A-102030.
To query and change a computer name
1. Press the SETUP key.
2. Select "Remote Access > Network".
The "Network Settings" dialog opens.
The computer name is displayed under "Hostname".
3. Press the SETUP key.
4. Select "Security > Protection".
5. Enable the "Protection Level 1".
The default password is 123456.
The parameter "Hostname" in the "Network Settings" dialog is now enabled for
configuration.
6. Change the "Hostname".
