Commands for Managing the Switch
ExtremeWare XOS 11.5 supports only the Summit X450 family of switches and the BlackDiamond 8800 series switch.

configure snmp sysName
configure snmp sysname <sysName>
Description
Configures the name of the switch.
Syntax Description
Default
The default sysname is the model name of the device (for example, BlackDiamond10808).
Usage Guidelines
You can use this command to change the name of the switch. A maximum of 32 characters is allowed.
The
sysname appears in the switch prompt.
To view the name of the system listed on the switch, use the
show switch command. The show switch
command displays switch statistics including the name of the system.
Example
The following command names the switch:
configure snmp sysname engineeringlab
The following output from the show switch command displays engineeringlab as the name of the
switch:
SysName: engineeringlab
SysLocation: englab
SysContact: FredJ
History
This command was first available in ExtremeWare XOS 10.1.
Platform Availability
This command is available on all platforms.
sysName An alphanumeric string that specifies a device name.
