Migrating from a DEFINITY Server CSI in a CMC to an S8400 Media Server using Xmodem
390 Upgrading, Migrating, and Converting Media Servers and Gateways
Documentation checklist for migrations
For a list of documents that are needed to perform the migration, see Resources on page 54.
Migration tasks
The information in this section is based on the assumption that the media server complex is
installed, configured, and operational.
!
CAUTION:
CAUTION: This migration affects service because you must turn off the CMC to replace the
processor and tone clock circuit packs. Before you turn off the cabinets, you must
perform the following premigration administration.
The general migration procedures are as follows:
● Turn off the processor gracefully - pre-conversion administration
● Replace the processor circuit pack or tone clock circuit pack with a TN8412AP S8400 IP
Interface (SIPI) circuit pack
● Connect the SIPI circuit pack to the Ethernet switch on the customer network
● Assign an IP address to the SIPI circuit pack
You can reuse the translations from the existing system when you migrate to an S8400 Media
Server.
