COM 87L Command
Use this command to determine the status of the 87L function and related
communications and to create a record of commissioning activities. The
COM 87L command generates a report which is divided into three sections:
87L configuration and overall status (Table 11.12), channel configuration and
status (Table 11.13), and channel statistics (Table 11.14).
87L Configuration and Overall Status
Basic configuration of the relay may be verified in this section (the relay
configuration matches the application).
Channel Configuration and Status
Configuration of a particular channel or a problem with the channel itself may
be verified in this section (the relay configuration matches the application).
Relay ID, Terminal ID, F/W version,
Serial number, Configuration ID
These data identify the particular relay, its
firmware version and applied settings at the time
the report was generated
87L Local and Remote Relay IDs Use these data to check that the local and remote
relay IDs agree for all relays that make up the
differential zone.
87L configuration Use these data to confirm that the channel type
(serial, Ethernet) and the number of terminals
(2, 3, or 4) matches the application.
Table 11.12 Overall Status Section
87L status Indicates that the 87L element is either:
➤ Disabled or
➤ In test or
➤ Operating in stub bus mode or
➤ Operating as a master or
➤ Operating as an outstation or
➤ Unavailable because of a problem with commu-
nications, timing, or relays
Status Indicates if there is an alarm on any channel.
Synchronization Configuration Indicates whether the relay is using channel based
synchronization or time based synchronization or
both.
Synchronization Status Indicates whether the relay’s degree of
synchronization with its remote peers is high, low,
or not synchronized.
87L time fallback Indicates time fallback for applications using time-
based synchronization.
Time source status Reports whether the local and remote time sources
are present and healthy for applications using time-
based synchronization.
