Coming to Cobalt from Congo
Your main difference will be that Cobalt is so much faster. Making a transition from Congo to Cobalt
is simple. All of your old shows are compatible, and 100% of the functionality you are used to.
However, you will find that some things are handled differently by the hardware, and in ways that
eliminate hundreds of key presses in a session.
Two big differences are the Direct Select Tab
that replaces the Direct Select key sections in Congo
with many more options and built in screen faders, and the Device Control Tab
that provides you with
direct access to every parameter in a device. From version 8.0 and forward also all the Networking
and multiple console architecture is different. There are a lot of brand new features such as the Magic
Sheets that bring the former Channel Layouts to a new level. The Screen Areas that allow you to store
complex and useful screen setups and the new Tab Selector system that comes with this. Keep most of
your muscle memory and system architecture intact and explore these new and powerful features with
an open mind.
