Operation Manual – Routing Protocol

RIP Configuration
3-12
IV. Setting RIP-2 packet authentication mode
RIP-2 supports two authentication modes: simple authentication and MD5
authentication.
Simple authentication cannot provide complete security, because the authentication
keys sent along with packets that are not encrypted. Therefore, simple authentication
cannot be applied where high security is required.
