31.4.3 Operating the metal detector
Metal detectors generate strong magnetic fields.
DANGER The magnetic field of the metal detector affects cardiac pacemak-
ers! Mortal danger!
The pacemaker sends no or incorrect impulses.

Persons with pacemakers must not stay near a metal detector.
The device may be equipped with an optional metal detector to detect and eject packages
containing metals
. You will receive separate operating instructions for the metal detector.
Refer to the operating instructions to familiarize yourself with the opera-
tion and possible risks before using the metal detector
.
31.5 Package ejector
A package ejector can be mounted at the end of the transport unit to eject packages.
Depending on the specification
, packages can be ejected for the following reasons, see
page 267:
– Eject overweight or underweight packages, see page 326.
– Eject packages containing metal (only in connection with metal detector).
– Eject packages when total preselection is reached.
– Eject incorrect or unlabeled packages (only in connection with code check unit), see
page 456.
– Eject packages in the event of malfunctions (e.g. at end of label roll).
– Eject packages after switching to conveying mode, see page 356.
