MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
Call Processing Card (CPC)
Call Processing Card (CPC)
4.71 Version 8.0 and later software support a new CPU card called the Call Processing Card
(CPC). This card, which replaces the CPU64, CPU128, and CPU256 cards, uses a software
license that allows you to upgrade the capacity of the system without having to replace the card
(see page 5-11 for details about the software license feature). Because this software license
contains premium feature information, the CPC or CPU020 cards do not require a feature unit
PAL. In addition, the CPC does not require an attached PCM card because the CPC houses the
typical PCM functionality and hardware. See Figure 3-47 on page 3-94 for an illustration.
NOTE: To use version 8.0 or later software on 512 and higher systems, a Call Processing
(CP) Server is required. To use version 8.0 or later software on 64, 128, or 256 systems, the
CPC is required.
4.72 Features of the CPC include the following:
Memory: Includes 16 MB Flash, 16 MB SDRAM, and 2 MB battery-backed RAM.
IP Port (10/100 Base-T): Provides IP connections directly to the system, which is simi-
lar to the functionality of the IP port found on the CP Server. In addition, you can use
the IP Port to upload Call Processing software, upload the software license, or program
the database. See page 6-178 for more information.
* Button: Allows you to bypass the backup database, verify the status of Call Process-
ing, and place the CPC into the download state. See page 7-88 for details.
NOTE: The * button is not a reset button.
RS232 Jacks: (two 8-pin, 8-conductor modular jacks/line jack units) Connects to the
RS232 port on the Voice Processing PC or EVMC, or connects SMDR/error message
output devices, a personal computer for programming the system database, and/or a
modem for remote programming/maintenance (see pages 2-99 to 2-104 for require-
ments).
NOTE: The system can have a maximum of 32 RS232 ports for system services. This
includes the RS232 ports on the CPC, Options Card(s), and PC Data Port Modules. If
an Inter-Tel Voice Processing PC or EVMC is installed, at least one of the system
RS232 ports must be dedicated to Voice Processing.
CAUTION
Security is the responsibility of the customer’s network administrator. Inter-Tel is not
responsible for network problems due to security violations involving the IP address
exposure of the CPC. This includes, but is not limited to, interrupted network service.
Recommendations remain to place the CPC in a private IP network. In addition,
Inter-Tel recommends that you install the CPC behind a firewall or Network Address
Translation (NAT) box.
