14. SYSTEM MANAGER PROGRAMMING
14.1 System Manager is a server-based application that centralizes management functions
for the Axxess system. Each node (up to 99) within a system must physically connect to the
System Manager server to allow remote management. After a connection is established, the
node is considered an “agent” to System Manager. To configure the node to interface with Sys-
tem Manager, double-click
System Manager (under System).
NOTE: If you have not selected a time zone yet, a warning message appears when you dou-
ble-click System Manager. You must first program a time zone before any of the System Man-
ager fields.
ALSO: System Manager’s performance can suffer when connected to a network that includes
40 or more nodes. The performance degradation occurs when several systems send large
amounts of Message Print data to System Manager. In an effort to eliminate this, if the system
administrator plans on connecting 63 nodes or more to System Manager, a newer version of
System Manager is needed. This new version supports the ability to enable or disable incoming
Message Print messages.
14.2 IP Address: This field identifies the IP address of the System Manager server. To enter
the IP address, click the current Value. The Edit IP Address dialog appears. Enter the correct IP
address and click
OK. By default, this value is 192.168.200.1.
14.3 Port: This field identifies the port used to connect to the System Manager server. To
change the port number, click the current Value and enter the new number. Then press
ENTER
or click another field to save your change. The valid range is 1025-65535, and the default is
3707.
14.4 Username: This field indicates the username of the agent account that is programmed
in System Manager. To enter the username, click the current Value and enter the username, up
to 64 characters. Then press
ENTER or click another field to save your change. This field is
case-sensitive.
14.5 Password: This field identifies the password for the agent account that is programmed
in System Manager. To enter the password, click the current Value and enter the password, up
to 64 characters. Then press
ENTER or click another field to save your change. This field is
case-sensitive.
NOTE: The Username and Password fields must match the information that is programmed
in System Manager. If these fields do not match the agent account information, the node will not
connect to System Manager.
Enable Connection: This flag determines whether the node will attempt to connect to
System Manager. Set this flag to Yes to allow the node to connect to System Manager. If
disabled, the node will not connect to System Manager. By default, this is disabled. To
enable this flag, select its check box to place a check mark in it. Then press
ENTER or
select another field to save your change.
History Capacity Limit: This field sets the size limit of the history message buffer for
the CP agent before messages are sent to the CP snap-in. By default this field is set to
50.
Require System Manager ACK: When this flag is set to Yes, the CP Snap-in sends an
acknowledgement to the CP agent whenever the CP agent sends the CP Snap-in a his-
tory message. The default value for this flag is No.
