MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
Understanding the Log Display
5. Click OK to accept the merge option. You are returned to the main screen.
6. Click Start. The application will begin merging the databases.
NOTE: Click Stop (ESC) to terminate the merge process.
5.14 The status bar at the bottom of the application will track the merge process. Any errors
and/or changes will be displayed in the Log area, as described below.
Understanding the Log Display
5.15 While the application is merging the information, the Log area will display the changes
and/or problems the application encounters. This includes the following:
Validating <Database>: Displays the database path and name that the application is
currently validating. The application will ensure the database is the correct version and
that the country and product type matches the other databases.
Merging: Identifies the database and the corresponding items that are currently being
added to the master database.
Adding: Details any changes the application is making. Typically, the old value is listed
first, followed by the new value.
Merge Completed: Indicates that the merge is complete.
5.16 In addition, the log displays any embedded error messages, which are preceded by three
asterisks (***). If desired, you can search for an error message by searching for the asterisk.
NOTE: If a database access error occurs during the merge, ensure that you are using the lat-
est version of the Merge Utility and run the merge one more time. If the error still occurs, send
the affected database files to Inter-Tel engineering for review.
5.17 After the merge is complete, the text shown in the Log area is saved to a .txt file with
the same name as the final database. This file is also stored in the same location as the destina-
tion database. If a file already exists with this name, a dialog box will prompt you to overwrite
the file. If you select
Yes, the existing file is overwritten. If you select No, the merge process is
stopped, and you are prompted to provide a new name for the file.
Completing the Merge
5.18 When the application has finished the merge, perform the following steps:
1. Review the Merge Utility log (see the previous section).
2. Run DB Test and use the repair option if any inconsistencies are found.
3. Load the database in a local session and update the node route groups.
4. Export the merged database to all nodes in the system.
5. Import from all nodes in the system to the merged database.
6. Review all information and settings in the merged database for accuracy. You may need
to manually change devices and settings before the database will work.
