T1 OPX Disconnect Flag
10.10 In previous software versions, some sites had difficulties when using a loop start T1
line configured for OPX to connect two Inter-Tel systems and performing “semi-networking”
applications such as intercom access, lighting message lamps, and shared voice mail. The rea-
son for the difficulty is that the T1 OPX does not send a disconnect signal to the loop start
trunk, which caused trunks to be “locked up.”
10.11 For T1 OPX stations, there is now a flag called “Send T1 OPX Disconnect Flash” that
sends a proprietary disconnect signal from the T1 OPX to the loop start trunk. (The “A” bit is
toggled high for the duration of the SL Disconnect Flash Duration timer.) At default, this flag
is disabled. It is programmed on a station-by-station basis and is available only to single-line
stations.
10.12 To use this station flag, you must have a T1 or T1/E1 card equipped with the proper
firmware. To remind you, a warning appears in DB Programming whenever the flag is
changed. The warning states that the flag has no effect unless the correct T1 firmware is
installed on the card. If your T1 or T1/E1 card does not have the proper firmware, there is an
upgrade kit available (see REPLACEMENT PARTS for part numbers).
NOTE: This flag does not affect T1 channels configured for Loop Start. Therefore, an Inter-Tel
system can be on the receiving end with T1 Loop Start channels and recognizes the disconnect.
However, it cannot send the disconnect unless it has system version 4.3 or later software and
has T1 OPX enabled.
Primary Rate B-Channel T1 Trunks
10.13 The Inter-Tel system also supports primary-rate B-channels. Each T1/PRI card can have
up to 23 B-channels. Each B-channel is programmed as an individual trunk in the database.
10.14 The capacities for PRI operation (T1/PRI or T1/E1/PRI) is as follow:
NOTE: As of version 8.0, the capacities in a CPC64 or CPC128 are limited by the software
license.
10.15 The phone system is designed to support only AT&T 4ESS Custom, AT&T 5ESS Cus-
tom, National ISDN 2, and DMS-100 switch types or Private Networking. No other switch
types are currently supported by the Inter-Tel system.
NOTE: Primary Rate trunks that are not subject to toll restriction do not return dial tone. This is
because these unrestricted trunks are treated as if they are connected to another Inter-Tel sys-
tem. Therefore, no dial tone is provided, no digits are collected, and the setup is immediate.
10.16 B-channel trunks can be combined with other types of trunks in any trunk group.
