30.6 To verify/install this on a CP Server running Windows NT:
1. Open Control Panel, and double-click the Network icon.
2. Select the Services Panel in the Network screen and verify that the SNMP service is
listed.
3. If the SNMP service is present, exit the Control Panel. No further programming is nec-
essary.
If the SNMP service is not present, click
Add and choose SNMP service. Continue to
the next step.
4. Double-click the SNMP Service in the Network Window/Services tab to set the appro-
priate properties once the SNMP service is installed. The Agent tab on the SNMP Ser-
vice window should contain the Contact Name and Location (IP Address). If you need
to view the traps from a remote location, then add the address of the remote machine to
the Trap tab. (To do this, go to the Trap tab and enter the Community Name that will be
public. Then, under the Trap Destination, add the IP address of the remote PC where
you want the trap sent.)
NOTE: You need to re-install the Windows NT service pack after adding the SNMP
service.
30.7 To verify/install this on a CP Server running Windows 2000:
1. Open Control Panel, and double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
2. Verify that the SNMP service is listed.
3. If the SNMP service is present, exit the Control Panel. No further programming is nec-
essary.
If the SNMP service is not present, click
Add/Remove and choose Management and
Monitoring Tools. Continue to the next step.
4. Select SNMP Service and follow the installation steps.
5. Double-click the SNMP Service in the Services tab to set the appropriate properties
once the SNMP service is installed. The Agent tab on the SNMP Service window
should contain the Contact Name and Location (IP Address). If you need to view the
traps from a remote location, then add the address of the remote machine to the Trap
tab. (To do this, go to the Trap tab and enter the Community Name that will be public.
Then, under the Trap Destination, add the IP address of the remote PC where you want
the trap sent.)
30.8 The three main components that are specific to SNMP Installation are as follows
• SNMP Agent DLL (ICPSnmp.dll): This is the agent specific to Inter-Tel SNMP. Dur-
ing service initialization, the CP Server SNMP service (snmp.exe) consults the regis-
try to load the agent DLL. This registry is located under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Ser-
vices\SNMP\Parameters\ExtensionAgents. The SNMP installation pro-
gram takes care of loading ICP SNMP DLL to this registry. Thus, whenever Windows
is started, the snmp.exe service will load the ICPSnmp.dll.
