MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
System Setup for Programming
PROGRAMMING
6
2. SYSTEM SETUP FOR PROGRAMMING
2.1 There are three methods that can be used for programming the phone system.
On-site programming with an attached PC
Programming using a stand-alone PC
Remote programming using a modem connection
2.2 Each is described separately in the following pages. Only one programming session
should be in operation at a time.
2.3 For on-site, remote, or stand-alone programming, the computer must be an IBM AT-
compatible personal computer (PC) with a minimum of:
Pentium II 266 MHz or higher microprocessor
Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, Windows ME, or Windows XP
32 MB RAM
100 MB hard drive space for installation; 80-100 MB hard drive space afterwards
VGA graphics monitor
1.44-megabyte, 3.5-inch double sided/high density floppy disk drive
CD-ROM
A mouse is optional but recommended (if a serial mouse is used, install on an unas-
signed COM port)
A. INSTALLING THE PROGRAMMING SOFTWARE
NOTE: If you have a previously installed version of DB Programming, you may want to unin-
stall the older version. The latest version of software is installed in a folder named Inter-Tel DB
Programming and older versions were named Inter-Tel Axxess DB Programming. If you do not
delete the older version, make sure that you use the current versions when selecting the Ses-
sion Manger, Board Utility, and Converter programs supplied with the software. Also, make sure
any desktop icons point to the correct version. The proper way to uninstall programs under Win-
dows is to use Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel. When this is used, DB Program-
ming uninstalls completely.
2.4 The following instructions assume that Windows software is installed on the PC and the
user is familiar with Windows procedures. Also, there should be enough space on the hard
drive(s) where the common files are located, where the files for the specific version will be
installed, and where the operating system is located so the installation program can write tem-
porary files and install files on the system directory.
NOTE: To install DB Programming on Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP, you must
have local administrative rights.
2.5 To install the programming software:
1. Ensure that Windows is running.
2. Insert the DB Programming CD into the PC’s CD-ROM drive.
3. Open the CD folders and click DATABASE_PROGRAMMING.
