PROGRAMMING

Timers
3.86 (Timers are programmed only for PRI-equipped Cards.) The ISDN timer default values,
listed below, have been carefully selected to ensure proper system operation under most cir-
cumstances. Occasionally, one or more of the timers may need to be adjusted. To program a
timer, select its current Value and enter the new value in the text box. Then press
ENTER or
click on another field to save the change.
Table 6-20: ISDN Timers
Timer
Default
Value
Range Purpose
Call Proceeding
(T310)
25 1-255
seconds
This is used for AT&T 5ESS custom switch type only. If the
appropriate Call Proceeding response (Alerting, Connect, or Dis-
connect) is not received before this timer expires, the requesting
system sends a Disconnect.
Connect Ack. (T313) 9 1-255
seconds
If the appropriate Call Proceeding response (Alerting, Connect, or
Disconnect) is not received before this timer expires, the request-
ing system sends a Disconnect.
Data Link
Disconnect (T309)
90 1-255
seconds
(T1/PRI Only) This timer is initiated when the data link layer is
disconnected. The timer is terminated when the data link is re-
established.
Disconnect (T305) 4 1-255
seconds
If the appropriate Disconnect response (Disconnect or Release)
is not received before this timer expires, the requesting system
sends a Release.
Idle Link (T203) 100 1-65535
tenths
This timer controls how long the ISDN Data Link layer will remain
idle before transmitting a Receive Ready (RR) Supervisory frame
or an information frame, once multi-frame operation has been
established.
Overlap Receiving
(T302)*
15 1-255
seconds
This timer determines the number of seconds that the system will
wait between messages during the overlap receiving process.
This timer is started whenever the system receives a setup
acknowledge message. It is then restarted every time the system
receives an information message during the overlap receiving
process. After the last information message is received, the sys-
tem has until this timer expires to send a call progress message
(for example, alerting, connected, etc.). If the system does not
send a call progress message or if the system does not receive
an information message before this timer expires, the call is
cleared.
Overlap Sending
(T304)*
20 1-255
seconds
This timer determines the number of seconds that the system will
wait between messages during the overlap sending process. This
timer is started when the system receives the setup acknowledge
message from the network provider. It is then restarted every
time the system sends an information message during the over-
lap sending process. After the last information message is sent,
the system waits for a call progress message (for example, alert-
ing, connected, etc.) from the network provider. If the system
does not receive a call progress message or if the system does
not send an information message before this timer expires, the
call is cleared.
