Node IP Connection Groups
PROGRAMMING
6
4.119 If the export/import fails, the new Network Group extension will not be added to or
changed on that node, and you must manually add or change the new Network Group exten-
sion in the appropriate node’s database or try the export\import operation later.
NOTE: If Message Print is enabled, an error message will indicate an unsuccessful broadcast
when the node is logged in to DB Studio.
4.120 For Network Groups troubleshooting information, see page 7-65.
I. NODE IP CONNECTION GROUPS
4.121 The system automatically creates a node IP connection group for each remote node
added. This node IP connection group, which corresponds to an IP network connection
between the remote node and the local node, can then be programmed for each off-node IP
connection. Like other devices, DB Programming displays off-node IP connections within a
folder corresponding to the node on which the off-node IP connection resides.
4.122 When you access the IP Connections folder, the right side of the screen displays the
extension, description, and username of the IP connection group.
4.123 Description and Username: All IP connection groups should have a description and a
username. The description that appears in all IP connection group lists in the database can be
up to 20 characters long. The username, that will appear on display phones, can have up to 10
characters. To program the names, select the desired text box and type the entry. Do not use
slash (/), backslash (\), vertical slash ( | ), or tilde (~) characters in usernames. Do not use Con-
trol characters in descriptions or usernames.
4.124 The following information can be programmed for each node IP connection group:
• IP Call Configuration (see below)
• Off-Node IP Connections (see page 6-187)
• Emergency Outgoing Access (see page 6-188)
• Outgoing Access (see page 6-188)
• Remote Node (see page 6-189)
• Camp-Ons Allowed (see page 6-189)
IP Call Configuration
4.125 The IP Call Configuration field provides a link for programming the following call con-
figuration parameters for the node IP connection group. Note that changes to these parameters
do not take effect until the next call is made/received. Changes do not affect existing calls.
When you double-click on this field, the following parameters are displayed:
• Audio Frames/IP Packet: Indicates the number of audio frames the system inserts into
each packet. The fewer audio frames you program, the less latency in the signal, how-
ever, the larger bandwidth consumption increases the chance of jitter and network con-
gestion. The more audio frames you program, the more latency in the signal, but the
reduced bandwidth lowers the chance of jitter and network congestion. Use the scroll
box to make your selection. Then press
ENTER or click on another field to save your
change. The default is 3 packets, and the range is 1 to 8 packets.
