5. MODULAR ADAPTERS
5.1 Inter-Tel provides D-sub modular adapters that are designed specifically for certain
types of RS232 connections to an system RS232 serial port modular jack. These include the
following:
• Inter-Tel Custom DB9F-to-8P/8C modular adapter which supports hardware flow con-
trol and is designed to connect to a PC serial COM port (part number 804.2545). For
further details, refer to the Inter-Tel Universal RS232 kit instructions.
• Inter-Tel Custom DB9F-to-8P/8C modular adapter which does not support hardware
flow control and is designed to connect to a PC serial COM port (part number 804.2420
– replaces 804.2561). For further details, refer to the Inter-Tel Universal RS232 kit
instructions.
• Inter-Tel Custom DB25M-to-8P/8C modular adapter which support hardware flow con-
trol and is designed to connect to a modem (part number 804.2543). For further details,
refer to the Inter-Tel Modem Kit instructions, part number 835.1621 (-4 or later).
5.2 For your reference, wiring diagrams are printed on the labels of these adapters.
6. D-SUB ADAPTERS
6.1 Inter-Tel provides D-sub adapters that are designed specifically for certain types of
RS232 connections. These include the following:
• Inter-Tel DB9F-to-DB9F “null modem” adapter (part number 804.2605) which supports
hardware flow control and is designed to connect a PC to a PC using a 12-foot DB9M-
to-DB9F straight-through cable (part no. 813.1683)
• Inter-Tel DB9F-to-DB9F “null modem” adapter (part number 804.2604) which does not
support hardware flow control and is designed to connect a PC to a PC using a 12-foot
DB9M-to-DB9F straight-through cable (part no. 813.1683)
• Inter-Tel DB9M-to-DB9F custom RTS/DTR hardware flow control adapter (part no.
804.2546) is required for older versions of the PCDPM when RTS/CTS hardware flow
control is required. For more details, refer to the PCDPM Installation Notice (part no.
835.2040).
• Inter-Tel DB9M-to-DB9M “Inter-Tel Axxent Modem Adapter” (part no. 804.2556). For
more details, refer to the Axxent Modem Kit Instructions, part number 835.1622 (-4 or
later).
• DB9M-to-DB25F adapter (part number 804.2574) used for converting a nine-pin D-sub
connector to a 25-pin D-sub connector. It is designed to be used on PC serial COM
ports, when needed.
6.2 For your reference, wiring diagrams are printed on the labels of these adapters.
