7.42 The SLA is supported with two Western Electric to BT converters (part no. C74) for use
when the attached devices are near the SLA.
7.43 For longer range connections (up to 4.5Km), an additional Krone block is required.
This is connected to the SLA using a standard line cord (part no. C27) and phone line jack unit
(LJU).
7.44 Where exposed OPX cabling is utilized, BT14A/1 of BT21A surge arrestors should be
used on the OPX lines, and the Krone field should be earthed. The LJU at the far end of the
cable should be a line master.
7.45 This entire setup might be part of the main MDF or situated remotely, subject to cabi-
net-to-SLA cable restrictions.
