Network Group Assignment
4.106 When you double-click Network Groups, the default Network Group (PP029) and any
other programmed groups are displayed. To create a Network Group, right-click and select
Create Network Group. Then select a P7XXX extension and the number of groups to create.
Then click
OK.
NOTE: Each Network Group on a node must have a unique extension.
4.107 Description and Username: All Network Groups should have a description and a user-
name. The description that appears can be up to 20 characters long. The username, that will
appear on display phones, can have up to eight characters. To program the names, select the
desired text box and type the entry. Do not use slash (/), backslash (\), vertical slash ( | ), or
tilde (~) characters in usernames. Do not use Control characters in descriptions or usernames.
4.108 Use Peer-To-Peer Audio: You must enable the Use Peer-To-Peer Audio flag to allow
the devices in the Network Group to use P2P audio. If this flag is disabled, the devices in the
group will use the system vocoders for all calls. Enable this flag by selecting the current Value
and then selecting the check box to place a check in it. Then press
ENTER or select another
field to save the change. (To remove the check, select the check box again.) By default, this
flag is disabled.
4.109 After you have created the Network Group, you must assign stations and trunks to the
group. The stations and/or trunks in this group will then use P2P audio or the TDM highway
based on the
Use Peer-To-Peer Audio flag. To access the programming options for assigning
IP stations and trunks, double-click the desired Network Group.
4.110 IP Stations: IP stations include IP endpoints (except the IP SoftPhone), IP SLAs, and
multi-protocol (SIP or IP) endpoints. To view a list of IP stations that are currently assigned to
the Network Group, double-click
IP Stations.
4.111 To add stations to the list:
1. Right-click and select Move To IP Stations List.
2. Select IP Phone, IP Single-Line Adapter, or IP softphone and click Next.
3. Highlight the devices to add to the list and click Move To List.
4. Click Finish when all of the desired devices have been moved.
4.112 IP Trunks: IP trunks include MGCP gateways and endpoints, and SIP trunks. To view
a list of IP trunks that are currently assigned to the Network Group, double-click
IP Trunks.
4.113 To add trunks to the list:
1. Right-click and select Move To IP Trunks List.
2. Select MGCP Endpoint, MGCP Gateway and Endpoint, or SIP Trunk and click Next.
3. Highlight the devices to add to the list and click Move To List.
4. Click Finish when all of the desired devices have been moved.
4.114 You can also program Network Groups for P2P audio across nodes, as described below,
or you can use the Export/Import function if running system software v9.0 or later.
