8.33 The station message detail reporting (SMDR) produces a record of calls and their costs.
Report format is discussed in the FEATURES section, starting on page 5-308.
8.34 Each node in a network has its own SMDR programming. You can enable or disable
network call records on each node. SMDR information is programmed as described in the fol-
lowing paragraphs.
8.35 Devices: To assign the stations and trunks that will be included in the SMDR output,
double-click on
Devices. A list of current devices, if any, appears. You can add or delete
devices as follows:
8.36 To add devices:
1. Right-click anywhere in the right side of the window. An option box appears.
2. Select Add To Devices List. A window appears that asks you to select the type of
device to include.
3. Select the device type(s) and then select Next. A list of devices appears. (You can view
them in a list by selecting the List button or view details by selecting the Details but-
ton.)
NOTE: To highlight a series of items, hold down SHIFT while selecting the first and last
items you want. To highlight two or more items that are not consecutive, hold down
CTRL while selecting the desired items.

Highlight the appropriate items and then select Add Items. When you have added all
the desired devices select
Finish. Your selections appear in the list.
NOTE: If you want to see the programming for a specific item, double-click on its
extension number to jump to its programming area.
8.37 To delete devices: Highlight the item(s) in the list and then right-click. Select Remove
Selected Items
.
8.38 Output Port and Local Output Port: Each node has its own SMDR programming,
SMDR output port, and a local (backup) SMDR output port. You can enable or disable net-
work call records on each node. By default, the system suppresses network call records. How-
ever, when they are enabled, the following applies:
• If a node’s SMDR output port is a node, the network sends SMDR records to the speci-
fied node.
• If SMDR output programming forms a loop, the system will send the SMDR output to
the node’s local SMDR port. For example, if the SMDR port on Node 1 routes to Node
2 and the SMDR port on Node 2 routes to Node 1, the configuration will cause an infi-
nite loop of SMDR routing. SMDR reports for Node 1 would be printed to the local
serial port on Node 2 and vice versa.
8.39 Select the output port and local port for the message print reports as follows:
1. Right-click on the existing port. An option box appears.
2. Select Change Port. A window appears that asks you to select the type of device to
include.
