• Status Display: Indicates the current status of the switch. If the switch is functioning,
this displays the switch name.
• Reset Switch: Resets the switch and runs power-on diagnostics. You should reset the
switch only when instructed to do so by technical support personnel.
3.11 Each module on the ASX-200BX functions as a separate interface, which allows you to
reset one module at a time. If configured so that each chassis is connected to a separate mod-
ule, you can reset the ATM connections on a per-chassis basis. To identify ports, each module
is labeled A-C, and each port is numbered 1-4. When referring to a port in programming, use
the scheme 1XY where X is the module letter and Y is the port number. For example, the third
port in module A is 1A3; the second port in module B is 1B2; etc.
4. CHASSIS
A. CHASSIS DESCRIPTION
4.1 The basic, single-chassis system houses the system power supply, an eight-slot circuit
cardfile assembly, and the circuit cards, including:
• Call Processing Card (CPC) or Central Processing Unit (CPU) Card
• Loop/Ground Start Cards (LGCs), Loop Start Cards (LSCs), LGC Daughter Cards
(LGC-D), LSC-D
• T1 Card (T1C) with optional Primary Rate Interface (PRI) Daughter Card, E1 Card
(E1C) with optional PRI, or T1/E1/PRI Card
• Basic Rate S/T Interface (BRS) and/or Basic Rate U Interface (BRU) Cards
• Digital Keyset Cards (DKSCs), Analog Keyset Cards (AKSCs), Executone Keyset
Cards (EKSCs), Single-Line Cards (SLCs)
• Options Cards (OPCs)
• Internet Protocol Cards (IPCs) and/or Internet Protocol Resource Cards (IPRCs)
• Embedded Voice Mail Cards (EVMCs)
4.2 For small, single-chassis systems, the CPU64 configuration, using the CPU64 or
CPC64, EVMC, and 4-Amp power supply provides a full-featured system at reduced cost. See
Appendix D — CPC64/CPU64 Configuration for more information about this special configu-
ration.
4.3 For increased port capacity, two basic chassis may be connected together to form a
dual-chassis system. Each chassis requires the 9-amp power supply and eight-slot circuit card-
file assembly. The second chassis, however, does not require its own CPU card or CPC. The
two chassis are connected together by a single ribbon cable.
NOTE: The ribbon cable, U.S. part number 813.1636-1B was modified in September 1998 to
improve grounding. Before grounding was improved, there were reports of DKSCs and SLCs
going off-line periodically. This caused M6029 error messages to appear in the message print
output. Systems experiencing this problem should have the newer model ribbon cable (look for
the -1B in the part number).
4.4 If required, three basic chassis may be connected together to form a tri-chassis system
(see Figure 2-1 on page 2-13 and Figure 2-3 on page 2-14). Like the second chassis, the third
chassis has its own power supply unit and eight-slot circuit cardfile assembly. However, unlike
the second chassis, the third chassis does require its own slave-version CPU020/PCM card.
The first and second chassis (master dual-chassis) are connected to the third (slave) chassis
through a special fiber-optic cable.
