Voice Processors
6. VOICE PROCESSORS
6.1 The Voice Processing Unit runs either Windows NT or Windows 2000. The Enterprise
®
Messaging (EM) system runs either Windows 2000 Professional or Windows 2000 Server.
Both processors are installed on an IBM-compatible PC that is connected to the Inter-Tel sys-
tem to provide integrated voice processing (voice mail, automated attendant, hunt group
announcement and overflow, optional Fax-On-Demand, Record-A-Call, etc.). For installation
instructions, see page 3-210.
NOTE: As of version 8.0, the OS/2 Voice Processing Unit is no longer supported.
6.2 The Voice Processing PC is equipped with the following items:
For NT-based units, Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 4.0 operating system
software (equipped with Service Pack 5)
For 2000-based units, Microsoft Windows 2000 (equipped with Service Pack 4)
For NT-based units, Pentium
®
133 MHz or AMD K6-2 or higher microprocessor
(depending on the PC version)
For 2000-based units, 300 MHz or higher microprocessor
32 MB or 64 MB RAM (depending on the PC version)
2.1 GB or larger hard disk drive
3.5-inch (1.44 MB) double-sided/high-density floppy disk drive
CD-ROM
Network Interface Card (NIC) (This is a specially-designed network communications
processor card that can transfer data packets between the Voice Processing PC and a
Local Area Network. The RJ45 connector on the Network Interface Card connects to
the LAN via a customer-provided standard network interface cable.)
Standard VGA monitor, keyboard, and mouse
NOTE: A Voice Processing PC is required to achieve the maximum capacities of a v6.0 or
later system (see page 1-15).
6.3 For details about the EM system, see the Enterprise Messaging System Installation
Manual (document part no. 780.8006).
6.4 Optional equipment that can be used with the Voice Processor includes:
Fax card (for the optional Fax-On-Demand feature)
SMDR retrieval cable kit, part number 828.1282 [not supported in Europe]
Parallel printer for producing various reports
Zip Drive Kit (part number 828.1460) for database save and restore
