Alarm Messages
4. ALARM MESSAGES
4.1 Minor alarm messages can be programmed to appear on all administrator stations’ dis-
plays or on the primary attendant’s display only. (See PROGRAMMING, page 6-259, for
details.) Also, when a minor alarm has occurred, the MINOR ALARM LED on the CPC or
CPU Card is lit yellow.
4.2 Major alarm messages will appear on all affected display phones, regardless of pro-
gramming. (See page 7-22 for more information.)
4.3 System messages can be printed to give service personnel and Inter-Tel engineers infor-
mation about system status during troubleshooting. The programmer may enable any combina-
tion of the error message types. (See FEATURES, page 5-313, and PROGRAMMING, page 6-
274, for more information.) The available message types are:
• Information Messages: These messages give information concerning system opera-
tion.
• Warning Messages: The warnings in these messages indicate that a condition exists
which may affect system performance.
• Alarm Messages: Alarm messages indicate that a minor alarm has occurred, but that
general system operation was not affected.
• Severe Messages: These messages indicate that a severe error has occurred in the sys-
tem.
4.4 Some of the possible alarm messages, along with their associated troubleshooting pro-
cedures, are outlined in the following sections.
NOTE: If a procedure suggests replacing the CPC or CPU Card, first try using the save/
restore program to save the customer's database (see page 6-65 in PROGRAMMING). It can
then be restored (loaded) into a CPC or CPU Card, if necessary. Make sure that the database
back-up battery on the CPC or CPU Card has a charge of at least 3.3VDC and that the battery
back-up jumper strap is in the ON position.
4.5 To allow one administrator to monitor multiple nodes, the system provides both system
alarms and network-wide alarms:
• Network-Wide Alarms: When an event occurs that generates a network-wide alarm,
the alarm is broadcast to every node in the system.
• System Alarms: System alarms appear only on the node on which the alarm was gen-
erated.
4.6 Alarms are classified as follows:
• A000 - A019: Minor System alarms. Can be handled without calling a technician.
• A020 - A039: Minor Voice Processing alarms. Can be handled without calling a techni-
cian.
• A100 - A199: Major System alarms. Require assistance from a technician.
TXn Green (solid) The port is sending data to the phone system.
Red (solid) There is no connection.
