G. VOICE MAIL SAVE/RESTORE TO A ZIP DRIVE
12.37 The Voice Processing Unit allows the user to save or restore the database, voice data,
and selected information using a ZIP drive in addition to the Voice Processing Unit hard drive
or floppy drive.
12.38 You can order a Zip Drive Backup Kit (part number 828.1460) that contains instruc-
tions and the following items:
• Iomega Zip Drive (part no. 520.5200) - External parallel port version, which includes
the AC wall transformer, parallel port cable, and User’s Manual.
• Two Zip disks (part no. 839.0002)
• 3.5 inch (1.44 MB) Save Boot Floppy disk (part no. 827.8813)
• 3.5 inch (1.44 MB) Restore Boot Floppy disk (part no. 827.8814)
12.39 In addition to the above, you will need the following to perform the backup or restore of
the voice data.
• A PC (desktop or laptop) running the System DB Programming software.
• The appropriate serial cable to connect between your programming PC’s COM port and
the serial port on the system.
• Additional Zip disks as required (depends on the “Total Storage Used” on the Voice
Processing Unit).
NOTE: The Zip Disks must be formatted and blank.
• A monitor, keyboard and mouse with the appropriate sized connectors (serial, PS/2,
etc.) connected to the Voice Processing Unit.
• A suitable AC power source for the large AC wall transformer needed for the Zip
Drive.
• A suitable amount of time when the customer’s voice mail system can be down for the
save/restore procedure to complete. The Zip Drive Backup/Restore utility requires the
voice mail to be shut down for the duration of the save/restore operation.
