system hardware:
— Cabling and Main Distribution Frame (MDF)
—ATM Switch
— Chassis
— Power Supply Unit
— Circuit Cards

1.2 The trunks and stations are controlled by the circuit cards in the chassis. A single-chas-
sis system has seven slots available for station, trunk, and optional resource cards. A dual-chas-
sis system has up to 14 slots, a tri-chassis system has up to 21 slots, and a quad-chassis system
has up to 28 slots. An eight-chassis ATM-based system has up to 56 slots.
1.3 The maximum number of stations and trunks that can be installed depends on the num-
ber and type of cards and station instruments used. In most circumstances, the theoretical max-
imums listed in this manual are never reached due to the variety of cards and station
instruments installed.
