MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
Emergency
D. EMERGENCY
9.24 The System\Numbering Plan\Emergency programming area is used for programming
the emergency number(s) that will be used when the Emergency Call feature code is entered by
a station user.
9.25 Emergency calls, by default, use the first local trunk group and will not be sent through
other nodes using node trunk groups. However, when ARS is used to place an emergency call,
Route Group 1 is used even if it contains nodes. This means that the network can access a
trunk on a node other than the user’s node if the user accesses ARS and dials the emergency
number. Inter-Tel highly recommends that local trunks be installed and used for emergency
number trunk access and that nodes are not used in Route Group 1. When a user places an
emergency call, every administrator in the network receives an emergency alarm.
9.26 The Emergency Numbers folder stores up to ten emergency numbers that are dialed
when the Emergency Call feature is used. For details about the emergency call feature, see
page 5-112.
9.27 To program or change emergency numbers, double-click on
Emergency Numbers.
Then select the current value (or blank field) of the number you want to program. Enter the
desired number, up to 48 digits, in the text box. Then press
ENTER or select another field to
save the entry. Only the first emergency number has a default value 911 [999].
E. HOME AREA CODES (U.S. ONLY)
9.28 The database requires a “home” area code for identifying local calls. It also allows up to
15 additional home area codes. The system refers to these area codes for toll restriction and
call cost. The first area code programmed behaves differently from the next 15 home area
codes. For the first area code programmed, the area code digits are stripped from the dialed
outgoing number. To program the home area code(s) for the system site, select the current Dig-
its and enter the new area code in the text box. Then press
ENTER or click outside the field to
save the change.
